Flower show support
St John Ambulance volunteers were proud to offer their first aid
expertise at the RHS flower show at Hampton Court Palace last
week.
The event, which took place from the 6 until the 12 of
July, saw a dedicated team from St John Ambulance in London support
the show, which included two ambulances, three treatment centres
and a control room, three nurses and over twenty volunteers each
day.
The show at Hampton Court is in its 19th year, and was seen to
celebrate the 5th centenary of the reign of Henry VIII, possibly
the most famous of all Hampton Court’s royal inhabitants, with a
Tudor theme that included six gardens, each representing the
character of one of the king’s wives, as well as all the usual
shows.
The Hampton Court Flower Show is a great event to be involved with.
Graeme Huntingford
St John Ambulance Officer in Charge
The experienced St John Ambulance team provided first aid for
the show over the seven days, including one case from outside the
show, where St John Ambulance were asked to aid the London
Ambulance Service. Of these visitors treated, St John Ambulance
transported nine of them to nearby hospitals for further
treatment.
Graeme Huntingford, who was the officer-in-charge for the event,
said of his team: ‘I am really proud to work with such a dedicated
and professional group of volunteers. They really are a credit to
the organisation.’
‘The Hampton Court Flower Show is a great event to be involved
with and the expertise we have gained from covering previous shows,
means were are able to provide the best possible service to
everyone out enjoying the event.’
